This is a show about Judgment & Forgiveness.
The theme arose from an emotional drowning experience in which the artist felt harshly judged and critically examined. His overwhelming response combined moments of anger, hatred, resentment, and ironic judgmental rage, causing an outward determination to understand his inner turmoil.
The journey explored all his relationships with the intricate and delicate combinations intertwined in the concepts of judgment. Like a two-armed pastry box folding to enclose bittersweet goodies, so was his life... a combination of perceptional differences over bittersweet experiences. From these inner feelings, came unique lessons learned, and with the shedding of many tears, a great letting go.
The dark, gave way to the light, and thus began the healing, love and empathy. These sprouted and grew brighter with each stroke as he painted the characters & figures of light, which are now on display during the show... Let him cast the first stone.
On wood, this mixed media of acrylic, texture, spray paint, and gold leaf are crafted in a style influenced by Gothic stained glass. Medieval glass inconography dictated firm religious statements with bold color, strong black outline, and canonized Christians that invoked remembrance and devotion from its viewers. With stained glass art being surrounded by dark cathedral concrete, it becomes easier for the viewer to see the messages clearly through the intentional passing of sunlight.
